My son 3yrs was lacerated by finger nails to fatty tissue on cheek bone. 2 scars 1.5 cm long x 2mm wide 0.5cm by 3mm. Wound closed within 48hrs. Applied vaseline to the scab twice a day, scab came off after 2.5/3 days. We then used Mederma and silicon patches(daytime only). The wounds are bright red and colour has not changed in 6wks, they appear smooth/flat. Could vaseline interfere with healing process? Does this mean it is a permanent scar? will size be whole red area ie size of lacerations?
