When Will Lipoma Drainage Close Up and Stop?

Recently had a large lipoma removed from upper leg. Football shape, 8"long and 3" deep & wide. Surgeon inserted a penrose drain and at 4 weeks it was removed. I still have a lot of drainage although not the same color. When will this close and quit draining?

Lipoma removal and drainage

You should start seeing the fluid decrease and the healing process start taking place. When a large lipoma is removed you may get what is considered a third space and that open space that is not closed is where the fluid builds up. This should dissipate soon and see your surgeon often for check up appointments to make sure your where he thinks you should be in the healing process. Best regards.
