A: Prevelle Silk: The First Hyaluronic Acid Filler with Anesthetic in the US

Michael A. Persky, MD

I have been fortunate to use Prevelle Silk hyaluronic acid filler with lidocaine on a few of my patients. It is the first FDA approved hyaluronic acid filler available in the United States. The word "silk" aptly describes the product as it flows and fills very smoothly. It is too early for me to... more

A: The longest lasting filler is silicone; however, that is...

Charles Crutchfield, MD

The longest lasting filler is silicone; however, that is something I would never use. The thing about the human face is that it changes over time, and the structure of your face five years ago is different than it is today and it's different than it will be in five years. So, you really don't want anything... more

Jennifer Walden, MD

I prefer the hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane or Juvederm Ultra for lip enhancement. I think they provide a soft, aesthetically pleasing lip augmentation. Although this is an off-label use of these products, it is becoming more and more common. The benefit is that the HA fillers fade away with time, and... more

A: Juvederm and Restylane safest for lip augmentation

Raffy Karamanoukian, MD

Lip Augmentation is an art form that must be mastered. The downside of poorly placed lip fillers is an unnatural looking lip augmentation that does not correlate with patterns of anatomic lip contour. There are five elements to succesful lip augmentation. These should be discussed with your plastic surgeon... more

Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm, Restylane, or Perlane can provide long-lasting, natural-looking results in the lips. Prevelle Silk is a hyaluronic acid filler I also like. Prevelle Silk doesn't last as long as other hyaluronic acid fillers, but the price is lower and people can leave the office and go... more

A: Many options for lip enhancement

Philip Young, MD

There are many options for lip enhancement / augmentation, including filling and surgical approaches. Filling up the lips is perhaps the best way to rejuvenate the lips.  Careful positioning of the filler substance within the lips will bring more youth to the lips and give it that sexy look. Fillers are a... more

A: Overall, fillers are best for lip augmentation

Scott W. Mosser, MD

There are of course several options for lip enhancement. Overall though, fillers are the best option. They are temporary, and fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Perlane are excellent options that can provide a natural looking and feeling result. A more permanent solution is fat grafting, but this should... more

A: Temporary vs Permanent lip filler

Michael A. Bogdan, MD

First off, I would not recommend any type of silicone product for lip augmentation.  Although they are being used, I don't think they look or feel natural, and they have a high complication rate.  Although the HA fillers are temporary, they give a very soft and natural result, and you can... more

A: Lip Augmentation Options

Andrew P. Trussler, MD

There are many options that have been described for lip augmentation, though I would start with a Hyaluronic Acid based gel such as Juvederm Ultraplus. It is a soft gel that is more form stable than others and if injected in the red mucosa of the lip is will give a plumper look for maybe 8 months. I perform... more

I just had lip implants put in yesterday--not injections, but actual implants. So far they look very nice. Cost= $2400.
