Most common fashion mistakes:

Wearing the wrong size - ironically, if you are skinny and wear clothes that are tight or loose you will look even skinnier; if you are a larger size and wear clothes that are tight or loose, you will end up appearing larger that you actually are. So, proper fit is crucial to looking great.  Don't ever care about the size on the label; most people vary anyways about 2-3 sizes depending on the brand.

Wearing the wrong foundations - different clothes require different foundations; make sure your bra and panties fit properly, so that there are no visible lines; if needed, seek professional help.

Wearing the wrong colours - experiment with different colours and steer clear of the ones that make you look jaundiced or washed out. - wearing more than three colours at a time

Remember that patterns count for one colour and stay away from mixing them for a more stylish look

Dressing too young - It is never attractive and it actually has the opposite effect, making people look older than they are. The remedy: if it doesn't seem quite right, it probably isn't.

Dressing inappropriately for the occasion - it is always better to be overdressed that underdressed; Just think about it: the feeling that you are the worst dressed person in the room surely detracts from your personal power and confidence.

Dressing too casual at work - business casual is simply a comfortably relaxed version of traditional business attire. It doesn't mean you can sacrifice professionalism for the sake of comfort.

Not paying attention to personal hygiene and grooming - runs in the pantyhose, bleeding lipstick, oily hair, chipped nail polish, missing or straining buttons are among the small details that most often let people down. Maintain the most polished appearance you can at all times.

  • If you have short legs, don’t wear cropped (Capri) pants. They will make your legs appear shorter.
  • If you have a tummy, avoid pleats and belts with large buckles.
  • To avoid the muffin top, wear pants that sit at the waist.
  • Make sure bras and panties fit properly. They can shrink in the wash.

While there are many “ Fashion Faux Pas” the most commons ones are:

  • Clothes not fitting properly. You cannot ever be stylish if the clothes you wear do not fit your body shape. Fit is another key to dressing well.
  • Dressing too gimmicky
  • Wearing the wrong colours
  • Wearing inappropriate makeup. As women get older they tend to wear more makeup. This is actually a big mistake; they are actually making themselves look older. Remember, “Less is more.”
  • Wearing the wrong colour hose. Amazing that I see this blunder still. It is important to match your hose to your hem. Sheer for your formal and professional look and opaque hose for your casual wear. Tip: The finer the fabric, the finer the hose.
  • Wearing the wrong seasonal clothing items
  • Salt stains on shoes and boots
  • Rundown shoes or boot heels. Everyone looks at what shoe or boot you are wearing. And it does not matter how expensive or trendy your outfit is when you have shoes or boots with rundown heels you totally ruin your look. Make no mistake about this. This is one detail in dressing you do not want to forget.
  • Inappropriately matched clothing. Mixing the wrong patterns with prints. This takes a little practice. My rule is when in doubt, do not do it.
  • Wearing improper underwear
  • Wearing the wrong bra and visible bra straps. About showing your bra straps: It is neither sexy nor flattering on an older woman.
