Chin implants are not used often enough. They are safe and effective and can dramatically improve the appearance of the face. The chin is almost as important as the nose in an attractive profile, and so chin implants should often be done together with nose jobs. I often use a chin implant together with a face and neck lift because it is so helpful in creating a clean right angle under the chin and taking up the lax neck skin. Before you insert the permanent implant, different sizers... more

Chin augmentation (Mentoplasty)

A weak chin causes legions to curse their fate, grow beards that become life time disguises, wear concealing scarves and turtlenecks, and try to avoid being viewed in profile. A mentoplasty to improve a weak chin can work wonders. An artful surgeon not only will make the chin more prominent, but will do so in a way that better complements the nose (among other anatomical landmarks) and improves the face’s overall symmetry and harmony, The maxilla and mandible—the upper and lower... more

Chin implants can improve a facial profile

Mentoplasty or chin implant can improve the profile. In patients with a chin asymmetry or retruded chin, an implant offers an opportunity for profile improvement. Other methods to achieve this could include orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery) and this may be the best method if serious malocclusion is present. The best method to choose the correct chin procedure for you is to visit a surgeon who performs this procedure and to discuss your options. Best of luck.

Benefits Of A Chin Implant

1. Improves the profile view of a face. 2. Relatively simple procedure. 3. Quick recovery. 4. Easily reversible as the implant can be removed. 5. No visible scarring on the face as it is done through a small incision under the chin in a pre existing crease that most people have but never notice it. 6. Not an expensive surgery Regards

Facial proportions: the balance between the nose and the chin

A properly selected chin implant can enhance a patient's looks in innumerable ways. Just by virtue of the lay terminology, and projected chin is considered "strong" and an underprojected chin is "weak." It seems that the fashion of the day even in women is to have a very strong chin. Examples abound such as Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, and Minka Kelly to name a few A chin implant can also help balance facial features. For instance a large nose, will look even larger... more

What results can I expect from Chin implant?

I have used chin implants for chin augmentation for over 20 years and when using the proper aesthetic judgement (right implant shape and size) this is a highly effective method of creating the proper aesthetic chin shape. I only use anatomical style, silastic chin implants that are placed through an incison, under the chin and never through the mouth.

Chin Implant (Augmentation Mentoplasty) Results

The face is divided into thirds. The lower third is dominated by the mandible (lower jaw), of which the chin is part. A common problem is a imbalance of the middle third (dominated by the nose) and the lower third. Frequently, when patients have a Rhinoplasty, they will also benefit from augmenting the chin for better balance. A chin implant can also be performed independently for a recessed chin which gives better facial balance. It can be also linked with liposuction to achieve a better... more

Why would anyone want a cheek or chin implant?

Facial harmony is the sum of a number of factors beginning with the skeleton, then influenced by the muscle, fat, and cartilage under the skin, and finally by the skin itself. In trying to achieve as attractive a face as possible, analysis of the projections and contours created by these structures must be analyzed. This is done by direct physical examination, use of an imaging computer, and occasionally x-rays of the face. Many studies have been published defining, by mathematical analysis... more

Chin implants

Chin implants can create facial harmony, a proportionate profile, and harmony with the size of the nose. They can also affect the muscle function of the lower lip. Inappropriate size and and hape of the implant can cause disharmony. Improper positioning can cause asymmetry. Improper size can be too overwhelming or underproportion. Wrong implant can also erode into the bone.
