A: Electrolysis vs. Laser Hair Removal

Raffy Karamanoukian, MD

With advancements in laser hair removal, most hair types can be treated with laser and thus electrolysis has lost popularity.  Electrolysis does have application in patients with residual hair after laser hair removal, blond hair, red hair, or white hair.

Electrolysis still has a place for hair removal. It is perfect for isolated hairs and those that have lost their pigment and are greying, blond or red. So few students are trained in electrolysis anymore that you will find it difficult to find a good therapist.

It is the only method approved by the FDA as being Permanent for Hair Removal. Its permanency has been well recognized by knowledgeable physicians and is also testified to by thousands of scientific articles published in medical literature. There are also millions of people around the world who have benefit from this amazing procedure. Me being one of them! So no it is not outdated. there are soo many new and advanced machines out there that make treatments soo easy. but i do agree with Clare Rogers comment. -arlena parker Electrologist Studio City CA
