Bumps are potential collagen injection side effects
Collagen causes less redness and swelling than the hyaluronic acid fillers. I also find it to cause less bruising.
If collagen is delivered too close to the skin surface, it may result in tiny bumps. These are colorless, unlike the hyaluronic acid fillers which can display a bluish tint. However, in the case of the HA fillers, hyaluronidase can erase the mistake. Not as easy with collagen fillers.

Collagen rarely used in today's practices
Bovine or human collagen is rarely used in most practices as better and longer lasting fillers are now available. We prefer to use Perlane and Juvederm for most of our patients who require filling around the mouth.
