What Are the Largest Breast Implants I Should Consider?

I am looking into having a breast augmentation within the next 3 months, but the only potential surgeon I've met with so far told me that he would not do the breast augmentation unless I would consider a smaller breast implant size. I was completely shocked by this. My breasts have been extremely small my entire life (AA cups) -- I have always had to wear a "training bra" and was teased about this a lot growing up. I want to get DD or larger breast implants. Lots of women get breast implants WAY bigger than DD, so why am I being told my request is unreasonable? How do breast augmentation surgeons decide how big is too big for different people?

Super sized breast augmentation

You need to have tissue to support these implants. If your plastic surgeon is suggesting a smaller size of implant then it is likely that you are choosing a size that is not a good decision. The scary thing is that you actually may find someone who will perform the size that you are requesting. That person's interest may only be securing your case. Your current surgeon's interest is likely making sure you have a reasonably nice result that your body can tolerate. The larger your change is,... more

You must choose: smaller and pretty, or larger and ugly

It's that simple. If a woman, such as yourself, has very little breast tissue, then she has very little tissue than can cover an implant. As the implant size increases, the borders of the implant will be visible, there will be an upper bulge, the skin will stretch, and the breast tissue will be compressed. It will be fake and unattractive in the short term and permanently damage your tissue in the long term. I can state categorically that I have never seen a AA augmented to a DD that... more

There are important anatomic considerations for breast implant size

The size of your chest wall, (the dimensions of the boney chest) serves as a starting point to determine what implants may be tolerated. Next, one has to have enough native breast skin that can be stretched to accomodate the implant. If someone has very small breast with minimal skin laxity, it will limit what size implant can be placed under the skin. Other factors such as the amount of existing breast tissue and nipple position also need to be considered. In general, an inappropriately... more

Choosing the "right" breast implant size

The implant size that is "right" for you depends not only on your desired outcome but as importantly on your tissues and what they will appropriately tolerate. The way I determine what is right for my breast augmentation patients is to meet and discuss your goals, review your medical history and then perform a focused exam. The things to be assessed are the amount of breast and sub-cutaneous tissue you have as well as your overall body habitus. I am a big believer in placing the... more

Choosing breast implant size

Choosing breast implants depends upon the size of your chest, your breast size, your skin tone, and your personal goals. Implants come in different sizes and shapes which are better suited to one breast/body type or another. For women who are small breasted (A cup) to begin with, it is often not possible to simply place an implant which would make them a DD, nor is it wise. Without adequate coverage of the implant the results can be disastrous including contractures, breast deformities,... more

Largest breast implants

Just a slightly different twist, though I agree with most of the other expert posters. Try an "expander" implant or the post operatively adjustable implant. This allows increasing volume after surgery. Yes they are more $ but maybe this will give you the size you desire. JUST A THOUGHT. From MIAMI Dr. B

Selecting the Breast Implant Size for You

I consider two factors when selecting implants for my patients: 1.Dimensional planning2.Gel Implant Sizing system Dimensional planning – The measurements of your chest wall are taken. Also, the breast dimensions including the height, width, and current dimensions of each breast form the basis of dimensional planning. Based on these measurements, the implant size is recommended. This will give you a unique breast implant that is suited for your body frame. Even your fitness levels and... more

What size implant you should consider...

Depends on: 1 Shape of the implant- some implants give more projection, some have a wider base. 2 Shape of your chest Wall 3 What your own sense of proportion is I have put in 800cc implants on a very skinny patient. The skin does stretch. Read over the link below for more info, and watch the video for more info see video

In the case of breast implants, bigger is not always better

When you finally decide to move forward with breast augmentation, keep in mind that we are all using the same implants (for the most part) but that we don't all get the same results. A good surgeon has an aesthetic eye and can help work with you to not only achieve the results you are looking for (in terms of cup size) but also suggest an implant size that will be appropriate for you. Saying that, there is no hard and fast way to tell you exactly what size of implant is... more

Largest breast implants

It is important that you understand why selecting the correct implant size is fundamental to a successful outcome. Any plastic surgeon wants you to be satisfied with the result of your surgery. However we know, based on our experience, that if patients have an implant that is too large, the patient will experience short-term and/or long-term complications/undesirable outcomes. Your plastic surgeon needs to communicate this to you. When we examine a patient, we are looking at how thin or... more

Don't sacrifice beauty for breast size

Proportionality is the key. The patient is the one who ultimately will choose the implant size. However, be careful choosing a cup size that is way out of proportion to your body. A wise Plastic Surgeon can advise you on what would look propotionally best . In my practice we then"negotiate" either larger or smaller based on patient request, rib width, how tight the muscle and skin is, etc. Your body may not "fit" a very large implant-- it would continue around your... more

Consider your breast footprint and body shape

It sounds like your surgeon is giving you good advice. Consider the base width or footprint of your breast. As you go beyond that dimension of your breast you risk injuring nerves critical for sensation to your nipple. Furthermore, consider your height and weight, the size of your waist and bottom; and how much curve you want to create in your breasts relative to the rest of your body. Also, beyond a certain implant size the risks of bottoming out, rippling, and thinning your... more

Why can't I have really large implants if I want them?

Hi there- Your surgeon is simply trying to help you avoid problems down the road that you will likely wish you didn't have to deal with, and that will almost certainly occur as a direct result of having implants that are dramatically too large for your frame. Please read the following- it will help you understand the "one right result" concept, which involves choosing implants not based solely on the patient's goals for size, but on the dimensions of her body- One of the things... more

Largest Breast Implant size

Breast Implant size depends on many factors: 1. Your skin elasticity 2. The dimensions of your chest and breast 3. The breast tissue you have to cover the implant 4. How fake or natural you want to look These are some of the factors we take in cosideration when we recommend an implant size. The larger the implant to your measurements the more the complications are, and the more frequent you will need further surgery. YOU ARE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL FURTHER SURGERIES. Going from AA to DD... more

Bigger breast implant size is not always better

Americans love to supersize. Big cars, supersized fries, the super big gulp. But bigger is not better when it comes to breast implants. I hear you want large implants. I understand when having a AA cup your whole life, when you do breast implants you really want to see a difference. They cost the same. Isn't bigger better? Why did your doctor talk you out of a big size? 1. When you are thin, you have thin tissue cover over the implant, so you will droop, bottom out, and see implant... more

Why the BIGGEST breast implants are not advised

In the 50's, there were thousands of country wide competitions on how many frat boys could be stuffed in a phone booth or in a Volkswagen beetle (more fit then than would these days with rampant obesity...). That proud nonsensical tradition of "pushing the envelope" (literally...) is continued by some surgeons who, clearly without their trusting patients' best long-term interests at heart, do stuff the largest breast implants physically possible in some misinformed patients. A... more

Large breast implants

Choosing the right size implant for you takes a very thorough exam during a consultation and a long discussion about the pros and cons of the different types of implants. Whether you can "fit into" a DD implant is difficult to say without examining you.

Choosing large breast implants

Your surgeon is likely trying to provide you with advice that will keep your body form and breast size somewhat proportional. Remember that a small breast means a small skin envelope, a very large implant in this small envelope can look very badly. I council women to try and choose an implant that is going to be proportionate to their body and commensurate with their wishes, but still provide a beautiful breast form and not look overstretched and overdone. It is likely that the plastic... more

XL breast implants

The most important thing when looking into plastic surgery is finding the right plastic surgeon for you. Make sure that they are a board certified surgeon who can specializes in what you are looking for and can helo you acheive the look that you want. Many plastic surgeons are very conservative when it comes to size. There may be a limit on what size you can choose depending on your body type. A picture would be very helpful. Size limitation in breast implant surgery

I think the surgeon you have seen has your best interest in mind. Based on what you are saying, you probably have very little breast or skin tissue, and your chest width is most likely narrow. Technically, placing a DD implant is feasible, but have you thought about the consequences of going so large? An implant which is larger than your anatomy will be very visible and will thin your skin, thus increasing the chance of rippling. The constant stretch will eventually enlarge your areola. ... more

There are limits to "large" breast implants

Hello, To go really large from really small is to stretch the tissues out quite a bit. There are often more problems for women who go really large particularly if they try to do this in one operation. You might be better off going moderate and letting the tissues stretch more evenly and then going back in a year or so for larger implants.
