Neutrogena, Oil of Olay, Ponds - these are all really fantastic and easy-on-the-wallet products. They really do perform. And I love my old favorite, Queen Helene mud pack masque!!!
You can get good skincare at reasonable prices at drug and discount stores. It helps to know a little bit about skincare ingredients, but barring a Ph.D. in Chemistry, stick with products from lines that have good reputations for skincare, such as Neutrogena and Olay. Both offer a variety of options at very reasonable prices.
- I am obsessed with Baby Apricot Oil by Burt's Bees. I slather my whole body in it after my shower, and it leaves skin seriously soft.
- Cetaphil facial cleanser, and Neutrogena silk-finish sunblock also both come from the drugstore.
- Oil of Olay Regenerist collection is top-notch skincare, and is a major cult item in Europe. Many women have chucked out their expensive skin care regimes for this stuff, and SWEAR by it.
- Jolene bleach is an absolute essential for your cupboard. You never know when a Che Guevara- style moustache is going to strike. Be prepared. Also fab for arms, making skin tone look more even against your new, blonde armhair!
My favorite drug store staple is Witch Hazel which I keep in the freezer. Just as it aided with bee stings when you were a child, put some on a cotton pad close your eyes and let it soak. It takes away puffiness due to tears, lack of sleep and stress. As a psychologist, I recommend this to all my clients. It helps them cry in a therapy session; if they feel and know they will still look good that evening.
I love certain inexpensive basics such as mascara, lip and brow liner, and brow gel, old fashioned Ponds and other creams that have been around for ages.
I prefer fragrance free and no additives, which may take some looking, but are on one aisle or the other.
The drugstore is like beauty nirvana-so many great items at such a good price.
Neutrogena has products for the skin, the body, the hair and a pretty soft line of makeup, and often offer coupons in magazines and the newspaper. Their website is educational and will help you create a profile of the products that are best for you.
I enjoy many skin care lines, but often recommend Neutrogena because they have products for every skin type, without breaking the bank.
