Traveling for procedures

The world is much smaller these days and it is easy to travel for surgery. Still, if there are any complications or other need for follow-up, it is always nice to have the convenience of having your doctor nearby.

Travel for Liposuction

I would not recommend travel for liposuction, unless you are willing to return in the event of a fluid collection or other problem. Sometimes, on out-of-state patients, I require that they stay close for 2 or 3 weeks to monitor for fluid collections.

Is it worth travelling to be treated by the best plastic surgeon?

This is a great question. My best advice is to find the most skilled plastic surgeon and then stay around at least for the first 7-10 days for follow-up. Stay Local or Travel for Plastic Surgery?

Thank you for the question. Your first priority should be to find a plastic surgeon who can achieve your goals safely and (hopefully) in a complication free fashion. If you have a board certified plastic surgeon in your area that fits this criteria, you should stay locally. Otherwise, although not ideal, traveling may be the better option.
