Breast Augmentation: Q&A

Weird Sensations 11 Weeks Post Op BA, is this Normal?

I had my impants(275cc mod+ mentor silicone gels under muscle) 11 weeks ago, I am experiencing some odd sensations. It's like a cold/wet feeling on one breast that feels like it expands and then dissipates. It is on the breast that my surgeon said has completely settled. What is this sensation?

Weird sensations after breast augmentation

Unusual sensations in the breasts are very common after breast augmentation. We commonly hear patients describing tingling, electrical shocks, hot, cold. Most likely this is due to recovery of nerves that were stretched either by retraction or by pressure from the breast implants. This will resolve all by itself, but may take several months.

Changing sensations after breast augmentation

Many patients after surgery and in particular breast augmentation describe different sensations such as burning, itching, pulling, needles etc. Your description is some what different then the norm but could be to do with the fact that nerve endings that are cut during surgery regenerate and as they regenerate sensitivity returns. Follow up with your surgeon to confirm that that is what is accruing with you. Best of luck

Odd Sensations after Breast Augmentation?

Thank you for the question. The sensation that you are describing is not one that I frequently hear. It is probably related to return of nerve function after surgery. As such, the sensation will likely be temporary and should dissipate over the course of the next few weeks. If you have continued concerns and/or worsening “sensations” you may want to visit with your plastic surgeon. Best wishes.
