How Does Liposuction Affect Further Weight Loss?

I have read questions answered regarding the effects of weight gain after lipo. I was wondering about weight loss after lipo. It has always seemed to me, that when I lost weight, it would come off my "problem area" first. Once lipo removes the problem area fat cells, will addtional weight loss finally come off those areas that never seemed to "shrink" before?

It seems whenever I'm able to drop say, 10 lbs, it's never evenly distributed weight loss. In other words, my waist will shrink first. I'm just wondering if my waist was no longer a problem via lipo, will additional weight loss finally improve the look of say, my arms?

After liposuction, weight loss is more even.

Hi. After our teen age years, the number of fat cells in our body remains constant. When you lose weight, the same number of fat cells shrink. Liposuction removes a few million fat cells from the problem area (say, your waist), and those fat cells do not grow back. So if you lose more weight, fat cells in the rest of your body have a chance to get smaller.

Liposuction and weight loss

You asked an excellent question.  Yes, when liposuction is focused on problem areas and then you go on to lose weight, you may notice those problem areas shrink more evenly with the other parts of your body that always responded to weight loss.

Liposcution and weight loss

Unless liposuction is done on a particular area it is doubtful that there will be a loss of fat or weight in that site. Many people find that when they lose weight without liposuction, that the weight doesn’t come off their problem area. They might find their facial fat or other nonproblem areas to be reduced so it is good for you that at least you can reduce your problem area by diet and exercise.

No Studies about Liposuction affecting weight loss

There really have not been any studies that look at this BUT, if you think logically about it: If you are liposuctioned in the belly, and that is usually the area where you can lose fat first, it seems reasonable to see fat loss elsewhere as long as you are losing weight. The key is that you may not be able to lose that previous 10 pounds as easily as you did before.
