Helping nerves to heal faster
Though pain is a normal part of surgery, some patients experience out-of-the ordinary sensations after surgery which may resolve more quickly if proper nutritional supplements are taken. These sensations can include hypersensitivity, electric shock type pain, sudden sharp pain, burning sensations, tingling, itching, feelings of pressure, or a feeling that insects are crawling on the skin. These sensations are often caused by trauma or stretching of the tiny sensory nerves in the surgical area. These nerves have a fatty insulation which gets damaged during the procedure. This fatty sheath is mainly composed of Omega-3 fats (found in fish oil or flaxseed oil) which are seriously lacking in our diet. Fish oil tends to have better quality Omega fats, but you must be sure that you purchase a very purified form of fish oil. Cheap fish oil is likely to have heavy metals (such as mercury) which are nerve toxic and can make your condition worse. Therefore, buy the purest fish oil possible. The purest form of any type of product is referred to as “pharmaceutical grade.”
Nutritional products that should help your nerves to heal faster include:
1) Pure (pharmaceutical grade if possible) fish or Krill oil
2) CoEnzyme Q10 (100mg twice a day)
5) Alpha Lipoic Acid (250mg twice a day)
6) Consider the homeopathic remedy called Hypericum Perforatum (30C). You would take 3 pellets 3 times a day for 3 days.
These products can be purchased at a natural food store.
Hope this helps.
Hypersensitivity after breast augmentation
Some patients have hypersensitivity after surgery. This usually gets better over the first few weeks.
Hypersensitivity after Breast Augmentation
It is very common to have hypersensitivity after breast augmentation for several weeks. The positive take on this condition is that you must have an intact and functioning nerve to be hypersensitive. That means that your nerve is intact. It is just bruised or stretched, which is often unavoidable in some breast augmentation cases.
When nerves get stretched or bruised, they lose their insulation layer (myelin) temporarily, which causes the nerves to be similar to raw electrical wires. Nerves really are just living electrical wires. These raw wires explain the hypersensitivity, which will slowly but predictably improve and then resolve over time as the insulation layer returns.

Increased sensitivity after breast augmentation is temporary
Some patients experience hypersensitivity in their breasts after breast augmentation. It will resolve on its own. However it can take 3-6 months to resolve. There is no reason to panic.
I have had patients with hypersensitive skin and nipples. When nerves get stretched with a procedure sometimes they can reach in different ways. Hypo-sensitive or Hyper-sensitive are both common. Your BS PS should be able to help you with this, keep him informed.
Hypersensitivity post breast surgery
At this point in time of your recovery, it is normal for you to experience some hypersensitivity in your breast. In most cases, the hypersensitivity will resolve over time. To help minimize the hypersensitivity, anti-inflammatories and desensitizing the area could help with the discomfort.
