I had a sliding genioplasty roughly a decade ago with Lefort surgery on the upper jaw. Anyways I would like to have the genioplasty step plate removed because of pretty constant tightness and sensitivities. The plate has three screws on top and two on the bottom and is centered on the chin. How intense is the surgery to remove the step plate? Also, is it safe to remove? Meaning, will my chin somehow be weakened by removing? Thanks

The easiest and less expensive option for you to get a jawline is a combination of a chin implant and neck liposuction. That will produce two positive movements in different directions (chin forward, neck up and back) which, when done together, will make for a dramatic profile improvement.
Although it's not standard to remove the plate after sliding genioplasty, it should be possible to do in a staged manner once your bone segments have healed back together.
