Dear Doctors. I am 41 yo male, 6"1 tall, 165 pounds. My legs and calves are abnormally skinny. Will calf implants improve and balance my body contour? Is it better to have one or two implants on each leg? What size of implants would you suggest for me?
Answer: Calf implants Dear Tom, Thanks for submitting your pictures. From observing your pictures, your leg and thighs appear to be in good balance. However, if you want to achieve a more athletic look with more muscular looking calves, than calf implants will help you in that regard. There are two calf muscles - medial and lateral gastrocs , so most often I recommend 2 implants per leg, one for each muscle. As far as size selection, it depends on your desire and your calf measurements. Most likely 165 cc for the medial gastroc and 50 cc for the lateral gastoc. Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who performed lots of calf implants surgery in accredited surgery center for your safety. Check the before and afer pictures in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent, attractive and look natural. Best of luck, Dr Widder

CONTACT NOW Answer: Calf implants for skinny legs? Indeed, the exact design and purpose of calf implants is to improve the shape of "skinny legs". Other than favorable genetics combined with rigorous consistent exercise, there is no other way to grow the calf muscles besides calf implants. The implants are made of soft semi-solid silicone rubber and placed surgically through a small incision in a crease behind the knee. Although a physical exam is eventually necessary, on photos your existing inner and outter calf miscle are relatively balanced so if you augment the inner with an implant, you will also need to augment the outter to maintain balance. Glad to help.

Answer: Calf Implants You would be a very good candidate for calf implants. The key decision for you is whether you want a modest change (inner calf implants only) or a ore substantial change. (inner and outer calf implants) Most men usually opt for a two implant per leg approach for a more substantial change.

Answer: A balanced leg contour from implants I agree with the other doctors who have replied. Calf implants are very effective in enhancing the contours of the lower legs and creating balance with the thighs or even going beyond to create a "buff", well-muscled appearance when the calf muscles are already well-shaped. I always prefer a 2-implant approach to produce a natural look. The procedure is usually straight-forward and low risk. However, the risk becomes higher when too large an implant is tried. Be careful not to try to "push" the surgeon to insert an implant that is larger than he recommends.Good luck.
