Septoplasty: Q&A
Ask a Question
I May Have Walking Pneumonia and Am Scheduled for a Septorhinoplasty Next Week, is This Okay?
There is a lot of mucus in my chest and it is difficult to breathe. However, my deviated septum causes breathing difficulty as well, so I feel that it may be beneficial to go through with it.

No Septorhinoplasty should be done while having Pnuemonia
Your surgeons office and anesthesiologist need to order a chest X-ray and have full clearance before you proceed with your scheduled Septorhinoplasty. You do not want to have any anesthesia or surgery while experiencing the symptoms you have discussed. Breathing difficulty due to a deviated nasal septum is completely different then breathing difficulty due to possible pneumonia. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Wait until you are healthy..
More often then not the Anesthesiologist will not want to go forward with your surgery if you are experiencing any type of breathing or air way issue. It is best to wait until your are healthy to move forward with surgery. Make sure you are updating your surgeon on your health issues and he/she can let you know the risks of surgery.
