Is Waiting to Remove Silicone Implant Dangerous?

I got my rhinoplasty about a year ago. A few months after surgery, I started to notice whiteness and the H shape redness around the bridge of my nose where it was rasped and 2mm silicone was placed. it wasn't infection, i took antibiotic anyway. It seems my skin is reacting to silicone and becoming thinned . I am anticipating 2nd surgery but because it was in another country, i have to wait a year to go back. Is waiting for a year too dangerous? What are potential dangers for leaving it as is?

Thin skin with silicone nasal implant after Rhinoplasty

Regardless whether your surgeon is out of the country, you should send him an e-mail with a jpeg photo of the redness on your nose and ask his advice. You may also want to pay for a consultation with an experienced Rhinoplasty surgeon to examine your nose and assess the skin over the silicone implant just to rule out possible erosion. Silicone implant under skin

I looks like you either have thin skin or the silicone implant is placed right under the skin - as opposed to as deep as possible under all the layers of the nose. At some point the implant may erode through your skin at which point it will be necessary to remove it. Rib grafting is a good option if you wish to remove the implant.

Silicone implans can erode through the skin

Your biggest danger in waiting is that the implant, if under tension, can erode through the skin and become infected and have to be taken out, now leaving a scar. I cannot tell from your photos if this is the case. You should contact your original surgeon. I would also see an expert surgeon in your area. I would be hesitant to wait a year or to rely only on what your original surgeon told you in this case.
