If I Volunteered at a Practice Do You Think a Surgeon Would Give Me a Free Procedure?

I really want a nose job but neither me or my parents can afford it with the high cost of my college tuition. Do you think if I volunteered at a practice for 100 hours they would agree to do the procedure for free and if so how should I go about asking? Please be honest, I don't want to make a fool out of myself or anything.

This will be difficult to find, but make a consultation with the best doctor in your area

It will be difficult for you to find a physician willing to do this. However, i would suggest making a consultation with the best qualified surgeon in your area. Sometimes at my office, I look for patients to be part of a video testimonial or a TV segment, in which case I offer a steep discount. If you find someone underqualified to do the surgery for free as you are suggesting, chances are you will have problems and need a revision surgery after a few years anyway... more

Volunteer service as trade for rhinoplasty--probably not a good idea.

Unless you have skills that would be useful to a busy rhinoplasty surgeon's practice, and unless he was in need of such a staff person, this is an unrealistic scenario. You could be making a salary as well as understanding all that goes into skilled rhinoplasty... more

Bartering for Plastic Surgery

Most plastic surgery offices that I am aware of do not trade surgery for services. We are frequently asked about this, so don't feel foolish. Here is the problem with what you are asking: you should choose your surgeon based upon your confidence that they will do an outstanding job not that they offer a discount or barter. You are far better off saving a little here and there until you can afford the procedure with the surgeon that you have confidence in. A... more

Very hard to advise. Fees are the surgeon's personal fee + staff fees + anesthesia fees + medications fees. So things cost the doctor $$. In MIAMI the fee for full rhinoplasty can be from $3500 to $6500.
