I had Rhinopl with alar base reduction 1.5 years ago. Right before surgery my surgeon asked me if I wanted smaller nostrils, and said there hardly would be any visible scars. So I sadly said yes, trusting him. Now, I would never have it done if I knew about the obvious ugly scars that would be. I asked my surgeon for a revision, but he said there was nothing he could do. Is it possible to do a revision, and minimize the visible scars? How can I find a surgeon I can trust will make it better?

Answer: Alar base scarring after rhinoplasty can be revised.
This early after rhinoplasty, it is premature to be concerned about the final result. The swelling is going to be very prominent at this early stage. I would follow with your surgeon...
The scar from alar reduction is most often very good; however, it can be dependent on the design of the reduction. If well performed the scar is difficult to see. We don't use scar creams in this area.
