Possible to Get Rhinoplasty if Get Break-outs on the Nose?

I am really interested in having a rhinoplasty. The issue which prevents me from doing so are the whiteheads and blackheads that I will occasionally have on my nose. I remove them on a weekly basis by pinching them out of my nose. It works and I am happy with it. I am afraid that if undergo a nose job, I will not be able to remove these white/blackheads. What can I do? Thanks.

Rhinoplasty with breakouts of the skin.

Rhinoplasty is done without problems in patients with skin breakouts. We treat the skin first and then do the surgery and have not had any problem in 35 years of doing noses.

Rhinoplasty and Chronic Skin Problems

I recommend you have a consultation with a dermatologist to evaluate your chronic skin conditiion, whether or not you have surgery. Skin irritation is a common, temporary problem after rhinoplasty. With pre-operative treatment by your dermatologist, you may actually do better than most after your rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty surgery may promote acne break-out in the short term due oily skin and clogged pores from taping & cast on the nose for the first week. Commonly, this acne resolves with time. Rhinoplasty and acne break-outs

It is not uncommon after having a rhinoplasty procedure to have more break-outs since the skin tends to be more oily for a period of time. This may also result in the accumulation of more white head and black heads. It is best to keep the nose as oil-free after the procedure and I often recommend the use of astringents or drying agents on those skin types. I hope this informaiton helps.

I think the best thing to do pre-op is to have a comprehensive treatment plan to treat your acne with your dermatologist. Oonce your skin is under control, then have the rhinoplasty.

Acne on the nose

If you have acne problem on your nasal skin it is ideal to have it cleared before the procedure. Otherwise.the tapes and splints will aggrevate it. You may use a course of Retin-A topical preoperatively and stay on a six weeks course of antibiotic -clindamycin during the procedure and it will prevent any flare ups. Please consult your dermatoligist for definitive management.

Rhinoplasty and blackheads

Treating the nose first and then waiting about 3 weeks for your rhinoplasty can help significantly with your breakouts. After rhinoplasty, your skin may have another breakout due to the taped cast over the nose. However, once the tape is removed, you can gently clean the skin once again and avoid future eruptions.
