Tummy Tuck: Q&A

Ugly Belly Button Scar - What Are my Options? (photo)

I am 3 months post op.tummy tuck. I know this is early, but I am stressed out about my belly button. The scar around the edge is very thick, but the marks left by the sutures really scream "hey, I had surgery!" (I have a tendency to hyper-pigment) Is the thought of a revision reasonable at this point, or am I overreacting? How long should I wait before revising, what are my revision options - should a different technique be used?

Revision 3 months after a tummy tuck

Hi Emily, I am sorry that you are feeling frustrated. I understand that bold scars are not pleasant at all. Without physical examination it is hard to determine the type of skin you have but the photographs show that you may have a sensitive skin. Nonetheless, you are still in recovery mode and it is early to have any necessary revision done. Best of luck to you. Dr. Sajjadian.

Hi I am 7 weeks post op and dislike my scar around my BB.I just didn't realize I would have one.I see so many women online with their pictures and do not see a scar around the BB. My surgeon is suggesting the PDL. That is a pulsed dye laser. I used one years ago on my Port Wine Stain and it worked. So I hope it works with the BB scar too. YOU may want to ask your PS about it. I've been using the Scar Guard for weeks now. It is not fading enough for me to wear a swimsuit or work out clothing or shorts that might show my BB so I hope the PDL works. I do not want to wait a year or two for this BB scar to fade.
Are you using Scar Guard? I was told too. Also, online silicone sheets are recommended but I have never gotten around to ordering that product. Good Luck!
