Elevated Incision

You are very early in your healing process so it not uncommon for surgical scar elevation. Raise your question with your surgeon as he/she would know best the technique and scope that he/she took and whether your healing is on schedule.

Incision Line Healing after Tummy Tuck?

Thank you for the question. At 2 weeks postop, your incision line is still in the very early stages of healing. Areas of irregularity, firmness, and “elevation” are not unusual. Of course, your plastic surgeon is in the best position to rule out complications or reassure you that all is going well. Best wishes.

It takes time for surgical scars to flatten.

You need to allow more time for the surgical scar to flatten. I usually tell my patients that the scar will feel thick and raised for several months. Follow your doctors recommendations about scar massage etc to optimize your outcome.

Healing of incisions

Two weeks post surgery is very early. Scars mature most in the first 6-8 weeks then continue to mature for up to 9 months. That said, and without pictures,I would advise you give the incisions time to heal, flatten and blend in. Of course you should continue to follow up closely with your plastic surgeon to ensure things are on track.

Post Op Tummy Tuck

Without before and after pictures, it is impossible to make specific comments. However, there is a balance between how much is pulled down during surgery and the tension pulling the mons area up. As the swelling goes down, you will notice that the mons area will settle. Good Luck.

Will my incision flatten out?

Yes. What you are probably experiencing is some swelling at the incisional site that is actually quite common and goes away quickly over the next few months. Some surgeons call it a "healing ridge" and we believe it is simply due to swelling around the incision where the two edges of the wound come together and are sutured closed.
