Tummy Tuck with Transversial Stomach?

8 years ago I was walking when all of a sudden I felt like I did when my baby dropped in the birth canal. Almost immediately, my nice flat stomach protruded outward and I was never able to suck in my stomach again. I ran to my gastro guy who took xrays and said that my stomach was in the transverse position down by the pubic bone...a very rare condition.

My previous doctor had taken xrays but never mentioned this rare thing. Is it possible that my stomach dropped and is it possible to have a tummy tuck?

Your problem is not correctable by Tummy Tuck

Hi there- I'm not sure exactly what problem you have experienced with regard to the position of your stomach internally... Generally speaking, however, a tummy tuck will correct the contour of the abdominal WALL when poor contour has resulted from pregnancy or large weight gains and losses. No tummy tuck will improve problems resulting from irregularities of the internal organs, although tummy tuck surgery can sometimes improve the appearance once appropriate intervention for these other problem more

Transversial stomach

This is extremely strange and a condition of which I have never heard. You may need correction for other reasons. For example you may be at higher risk for gastric volvulus due to lack of fixation of the stomach in its normal postion. However, I still don't understand your syptoms. Regardless of the position of your stomach, you should be able to suck in your belly: that is a function of your abdominal wall muscles such as occurs in a rectus abdominis diastasis and that should not be... more

Sounds like weak muscles

Having your stomach drop, causing a pooch is not likely - usually this is from weak or spread abdominal muscles called a diastasis recti and a tummy tuck with muscle repair fixes this.

Tummy tuck and stomach malposition

A tummy tuck will not correct this condition; you need to see a general surgeon. If you have extra skin as a result of this condition, you could undergo a tummy tuck at the same time to remove that skin, but this alone will not help your stomach. Best wishes, /nsn.

Tummy tuck with transversial stomach

To answer your question in medical terms, you have a malposition of the stomach or other internal organs. This could be genetic, or traumatic (from the pregnancy) or a combination. I would recommend AGAINST doing both these operations at the same time because the inter-abdominal surgery might become very involved. From MIAMI

Tummy Tuck will NOT correct intra-abdominal condition

A Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) is indicated to correct looseness of the anterior abdominal WALL. It will tighten loose and separated muscles, remove loose tummy skin, narrow the waist, lift a sagging Mons pubis but it will NOT undo or affect any intra-abdominal abnormalities.
