I had laser liposuction six months ago. I am now going in for a tummy tuck. Are there any additional complications because I had the laser liposuction previously, and can it be performed again during the tummy tuck procedure? I am only 10lbs overweight.

Laser liposuction and tummy tuck
Even with the scarring from laser lipo, a TT should be readily doable.
However, laser lipolysis at the same time as a TT can be hazardous, in my opinion, especially if it is done in the usual danger zones for liposuction combined with a TT. Your board certified plastic surgeon should be well familiar with those danger zones. See some of the posts on this website for combined TT and laser lipolysis, not good.
I personally do not care for laser lipolysis. I often see irregularities and...

Laser Lipo and Tummy Tuck together may have slightly increased risk of seroma
Laser liposuction and tummy tuck are very frequently performed together safely. If your prior liposuction was properly performed any scarring should be within the fat layer and NOT deep in the fascial layer which will be dissected during the tummy tuck.
I and other experienced laser liposuction users have noticed that seromas or fluid accumulations are more common post operatively when these two procedures are combined.
The solution is that the doctor needs to mplace drains after the...

Laser lipo before a tummy tuck: potential complications
The previous posts identify the main issue which is scarring from the laser which will make it more difficult to do the tummy tuck. The larger issue here though is why the tummy tuck wasn't recommended in the first place. I am starting to see more patients who needed the tummy tuck because of skin laxity, but were sold on the idea of laser lipo as an alternative. Not only does it not tighten the skin adequately if you are in the tummy tuck category, it may result in scarring and uneven skin...

Liposuciton prior to tummy tuck
There is no contraindication to laser liposuction prior to abdominoplasty. In fact, it may enhance your results. Without pictures, it is hard to comment specifically on your case. I agree that previous procedures to the areas (such as laser lipo) may make the surgery a bit longer due to the added scar tissue, but this is negligible and should not preclude further surgery. Good luck with your procedure.

Tummy tuck after liposuction.
Hi!
1) There is no scientific evidence that laser liposuction is beneficial. So we don't do it or recommend it.
2) Previous liposuction is not a problem at all if you have a tummy tuck now. It may even help.
3) If you need more liposuction, I would recommend tumescent liposuction, which for us is really just a part of the tummy tuck.
4) Your being slightly overweight is not a problem either.

Laser Lipo & Tummy Tuck
There could be some degree of scarring after your laser lipo which would make the TT more difficult. If you are going to stage the procedures, I think having the TT first makes more sense. It would then be relatively safe to have lipo as a secondary procedure.

More scar tissue
Previous laser liposuction will induce more scar tissue in your abdomen,it will be harder to dissect the tissues specialy that early (6 month from lipo). After one year the scars get softer and the area is easier to dissect.

Tummy Tuck may be a bit harder
Hello,
The tummy tuck surgery may be a bit harder as your tissues will have some scarring from the prior laser liposuction and may not stretch as nicely. This varies though.
