In Arizona can a Cosmotologist train to inject Fillers and/or Botox? Can a Cosmotologist under the direction of an FNP injection either fillers or Botox in the state of Arizona?
Answer: Cosmetologist injecting fillers and Botox i believe you may be a nurse practitioner considering hiring a cosmetologist to work with you? If so, please don't. An intimate knowledge of facial anatomy and functional dynamics, as well as pharmacology and disease states of muscle, vessels and nerves is required not only for good results but to prevent blindness and strokes. This is not an area of medicine that can be learned without years of education and training, as well as extensive experience. This should be obvious to you if for no other reason than the many unnecessary complications you read about on this website.

Choose your surgeon rather than the technique and let them explain why one technique may be better than another. Answer: Injecting fillers and Botox is practicing medicine. I am not a lawyer but here is my understanding: The scope of practice for an RN, NP or PA would allow them to inject fillers and Botox. RN's and PA's need to be under the direction of a physician and licensed by the state medical or nursing board. NPs in AZ do not need supervision but do need a license from the nursing board. Any other configuration constitutes the practice of medicine without a license. To allow or supervise a cosmetologist (or any non licensed/non medical person) would constitute aiding and abetting the practice of medicine without a license. This has consequences for the injector and the supervisor. Check with the medical board if there is any doubt on who is qualified to legally perform the procedures that you contemplate.

Answer: Cosmetologist in AZ No - only a physician and nurse practitioner licensed through the medical board can inject in the State of Arizona. Please make sure that you go to a reputable person to have treatments. While these are common procedures, there are many risks you don't want to happen to you.
