Traditional Liposuctions Vs. Other Methods for an In-shape Male?

I have a relatively low body fat percentage, but want to lose some fatty mass in the abdominal and flank areas. I will not rely on the lipo to create the appearance of a "six-pack," because it's already there when I manage to lose enough weight. I have two reputable surgeons near me: one offer Vaser for just under $10,000, and one quoted me a price of $2,000 for traditional lipo. Both said they'd remove about 600 cc's total. Which route is "better" in your opinion?

You get what you pay for when it comes to Liposuction!

You should anticipate paying about $5000-7000 for abdomen and sides liposuction.  The operating room and supplies alone will run about $1000-1500.  Everyone offers discounts now-a-days in this economy but don't be fooled by too cheap of surgery. Your results will show it.   Make sure your doc uses the micro canulas which give the best results and see at least 2 more docs for consultations. Even if you have to travel a little ways, it is worth... more

Lipo choices

I have used both techniques.  Vaser hidef is OK but you can probably get similar results with either technique.

Lipo vs. Vaser vs. Smart Lipo

There are two questions here besides the issue of experience and certification of the surgeon.  Traditional liposuction can be done with just local anesthesia and doesn't involve any expensive equipment so the cost can be quite low compared to liposuction done under general anesthesia and with expensive equipment.  The other issue is whether the hyped and branded forms of liposuction offer any advantage over traditional liposuction in terms of results. The skinny on Lipo

Liposuction in my opinion has less to due with the equipment used but greatly depends on the surgeon's skill.  Make sure you visit with  board certified plastic surgeons before making you finally decision. Dr. ES

Traditional liposuctions vs. other methods

Neither! Again from just your post with NO photos I would try Smart Lipo MPX + lipo. Vaser you need a larger incision site and traditional does not tighten skin. But maybe you should determine if your expectations are realistic. From MIAMI DR. B

Liposuction results are not technology-dependant, but surgeon-dependant

That is quite a range of price qoutes you got there- I suspect the guy that qouted the lower-end figure is probably not the surgeon you are looking for. The high-end guys seems a little expensive, but who knows, we're talking Cali, so all bets are off. Seek out a board certified plastic surgeon that does a lot of male lipo, uses traditional equipment, and has good before and after photos to show you. Liposuction is not tech dependant, but it is surgeon depedant!!

Cost vs. quality

My advice to you is to get a third opinion. I would also go on reputation and through talking with each doctor's patients. $2,000.00 seems a bit low and $10K is a bit too much, even by CA standards. Cost isn't always related to cost.
