I Was Told the Active Ingredient in Retin-A is the Same As Accutane, is That True?

Retin-A and Accutane

There are similarities between retin-A and Accutane, with both being effective for for milder acne, the latter for deeper, more severe or chronic acne. The ingredient in retin-A is tretinoin and it is isotretinoin in Accutane. Dr. Benjamin Barankin, Toronto Dermatology Centre.

Retin A is not Accutane

Retin A is a topical retinoid with tretinoin as the active ingredient.  Accutane is an oral retinoid with isotretinoin as the active ingredient.
