Today is day 5 of my chin lipo. Still numb and swollen which is expected, but I have one concern, my lip...If you see the picture, my smile is still crooked. Is that normal?
Answer: Crooked smile 5 days after chin/neck liposuction Your crooked smile indicates that a small branch of the facial nerve on the right side, called the marginal mandibular nerve has been injured during your liposuction. This is not entirely uncommon and hopefully is transient. If this is an insignificant injury you should begin to notice improvement in your smile by 2-3 weeks. If the weakness persists past 6 weeks then you will need further attention. These types of nerve injuries may certainly recover but after 6 weeks the recovery may be significantly prolonged. One therapy that can help his direct-current electrical muscle stimulation.
