Tip Rhinoplasty and Slight Asymmetry

Hi, I had a tip rhinoplasty 3 months ago. What bothers me now, is that I have a slight assymetry, My left side is slightly bigger than my right one. Inside my left nostril, the scar is much harder than the one in the right one. My question : One cannot say my surgery is a complete failure, but still I'm not satisfied. If I decided to undergo another surgery to make it more symetric, is it something particularly difficult to perform for a good surgeon? Thanks for your advice,

Update: Thanks you so much for your answers,it really helped, I've reviewed my preop picture, and I already had this slight asymetry but it was less noticeable. But I've also reviewed my post op pictures and as time goes by  I've noticed that this slight asymetry is definitely less noticeable than 1 month ago. So I feel much better, I'm more optimistic about it,  I wait and see till the healing is complete; The photos I posted are  3 months post op.

Here is the truth about your nose

Hi, I would hope every single plastic surgeon would tell you the truth which is this: Your nose is as symmetric as humanly possible based on these 2 pictures. You are not talking about granite or marble or a diamond that can be cut precisely and will stay the way way for years. Manipulating nasal tissue is very different and your nose is as statistically symmetric as possible and no plastic surgeon should take advantage of your dissatisfaction and take your... more

Shall I undergo slight revision of my nostrils

Dr. Naderi speaks my words exactly.Your result is fine and undetectable as photographed. It is only three months. Perfection is indeed the enemy of good.

Asymmetry After Tip Rhinoplasty

Dear Attali, First, it is too soon to judge the results of your surgery at 3 months post-operation. You will have to be a little more patient till you reach the 12 months mark. With that perspective, the beauty of your results is defined as the best fit to your facial features. So without complete photos of your face, it is not possible to give you a definitive opinion. Second, the absolute symmetry of any given nose is not possible naturally. So you have to anticipate that with... more

Nose asymetry

It is not clear if these are pre or post op pictures. However, they look pre op. Asymetry, can be due to swelling, scar that is been remolded, or cartilage issue. It is hard at this stage of the healing for an outside observer to decide which one is the correct one. You have to rely on your physician for that and have him confirm that if there is future correction needed, he would be willing to do it and discuss the financial implications as well.

Rhinoplasty Recovery

Post operative pictures would help. As every one have mentioned, recovery may take more than 12 months, especially with boxy tip. Nostrils are not symmetric as faces are asymmetric. Slight difference you may have noticed most likely persisted preoperatively.

Tip rhinoplasty asymmetry and surgical revision

At three months following your rhinoplasty you are still healing. The scars at this point are very immature and will be hard, as you have described. Further, your nasal tip will still be swollen. Attempting to improve your result at this time would be difficult, unwise, and could easily make matters worse. I agree with my colleagues, wait at least 6 to 9 months before considering nasal revision. You may find that as the swelling subsides and the scars soften and... more

Early Asymmetry After Tip Rhinoplasty

When considering further refinement after a rhinoplasty, it is extremely important to not attempt to manipulate a moving target. At just three months after surgery, the nose is still evolving and has yet to become a stable result. This is an issue that should not be critically evaluated until one year after surgery. The smaller a change that you want to make requires that you wait the longest before trying to do so.

Tip Rhinoplasty and Slight Asymmetry.

At 3 months it is impossible to judge your result. Wait another 6-9 months because the asymmetry you describe may be secondary to normal temporary swelling.

Tip Rhinoplasty and Asymmetry

Hello, it is to soon after your surgery to tell if you will be asymmetric as and end result. The swelling rarely ever goes down equally on both side for anyone regardless of the surgeons skills. Be patient you will see many changes before the year is up. When you get to about 9 months post op and do not have an improvement schedule a consultation with your original surgeon to discuss a revision.

Tip Asymmetry

After 12 months one can truly evaluate nasal tip asymmetry. So, stay in contact with your original surgeon as you heal.

Asymmetry after Tip Rhinoplasty?

I agree, it is very difficult to talk about any asymmetry without looking at your pre-op pictures, you are indeed asymmetrical now but you could have residual swelling from surgery at this point. I would encourage you to revisit with your doctor and discuss your concerns.

Nasal tip asymmetry after tip rhinoplasty

I would be curious to see your pre- and post-op pictures next to each other: from the post-op pictures you posted I am surprised that you had a "tip" rhinoplasty since the nasal tip is still quite wide and boxy. I am more impressed with the boxiness of the tip than with any asymmetry. While I agree that three months is too early to consider revision it is NOT too early to see that if your goal was tip refinement it has not been met. If you are looking for... more

Nostril Asymmetry

Slight asymmetry of the nostrils after rhinoplasty is very common. I know you are worried, but the asymmetry you are showing is hardly noticeable. It is noticeable to you because you study your nose very closely every day. It may go away over the next 18 months; but even if it does not, it should not be noticeable to other people.

Asymmetry of the tip post Rhinoplasty

You are still in the early stages of your recovery from Rhinoplasty. The tip area is the last area for the swelling to dissipate. Give your nose some time to heal before making a judgement of your final result. A revision would not be suggested for an entire year at which point a judgement will be made on whether it is advisiable for the requested results your are wanting acheived.Best regards and be patient!

Tip Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty of the tip can rarely achieve a perfect symmetry. You have to realize that even the best rhinoplasty surgeon in the world cannot guarantee you a perfect tip. Objectively the tip looks very good. However, if you find it to be unsatisfactory, you need to discuss it with your surgeon. You will have to be detailed in exactly what you want and also be realistic in your expectations. If the slight assymetry is because of scar tissue in the left nostril inside, your surgeon can try... more

Rhinoplasty Results at 3 Months

As has previously been mentioned, a complete evaluation of your results at 3 months is not advisable, as your nose will continue to change for at least 1 year. Rhinoplasty is amongst the most challenging of aesthetic facial procedures, and is often considered a specialty in itself. It would be prudent to wait at least 6 months before a frank discussion with your Surgeon. If you aren't satisfied with the outcome of the discussion, seek another opinion. more

3 Months Is Too Early to Consider a Revision Rhinoplasty

It takes time for your nose to heal. Typically, swelling takes to longest to resolve in the tip of the nose, approximately 1 year. From your pictures, I can see the slight asymmetry in the tip. I would wait to see if it improves as the swelling goes down. If after 1 year you are still unhappy with your tip, it would be appropriate to inquire about undergoing another surgery to correct it. I never like to say that any part of a surgery is "easy", but we typically do... more

Tip Rhinoplasty Asymmetry

It sounds as though you had a endonasal approach to the tip of the nose as opposed to an external approach. I am assuming the photos included are the preoperative views. Even with this type of approach it is still very early in the process of healing to make any decisions on whether or not you will need additional surgery. Having a discussion early with your surgeon regarding your concerns is helpful. Ask them to lay out a plan including a time frame for you in the... more
