Nasal Tip Swelling

Tip swelling 12 days after surgery is normal. This typically decreases significantly over the first 3-4 weeks. There is little you can do except avoid strenuous activity which could increase the swelling.

Tip will improve

Tip swelling is quite normal.  It will resolve in due time.  The nasal tip tends to retain swelling longer than other areas of the nose.  It is very early in your recovery.

Tip swelling is very common and can take some time to come down.  It's not at unusual that it actually looks bigger now than prior to surgery.  You'll see a mild decrease in swelling over the next 6 weeks, but it will take up to a year for you to see the final result.  Good luck, /nsn.

Hi,

At 12 days you can expect some swelling. Give it another 2 to 4 weeks. At that point if you still have swelling you can ask your surgeon about other options to reduce swelling in your tip.

The tip of the nose typically takes the longest for swelling to resolve. It can take several weeks to several months for the noticeable swelling to resolve. In addition, it may take up to a year for all of the swelling to resolve. An open rhinoplasty makes it take even longer due to the elevation of skin over the tip. That being said you should follow-up with your surgeon periodically to make sure that you are not building up scar tissue which typically can occur around a month or so. I hope this information helps.

Swelling of Nasal Tip After Open Rhinoplasty

Hi,

Discuss your concerns with your rhinoplasty surgeon.  It is common for the nasal tip to be large, swollen after open rhinoplasty.  Ask your surgeon whether Kenalog injections would be helpful.  Good luck and enjoy your new nose.

What you have is normal and will go down. There is nothing you can do to hurry this , but you can see if ice will help. Otherwise, be patient,
