I had an upper blepharoplasty eleven months ago. No complications, normal healing. The only thing that bothers me is that I still have slightly thickened bumps on the outer corners of my eyelids at the ends of the incisions. Will this eventually disappear, or is further surgery required to remove that scar tissue?
Answer: Could possibly need to start injection therapy for scar tissue Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Lateral upper lid scar That area is the last to heal in upper eyelid surgery but after a year it will need help. You need Kenalog injections to soften those bumps. If they do not get better then you will need excision of the bumps. RegardsDr. JDisclaimer: This answer is not intended to give a medical opinion and does not substitute for medical advice. Answer: Bumps after upper blepharoplasty It is doubtful that much change will occur 11 months after any surgery. Best to see an oculoplastic specialist for evaluation. It could excess skin (or "dog ear") or cyst or other problem. Something can usually be done for improvement.

Answer: Blepharoplasty and Scarring It sounds like you either have a little excess skin that needs to be removed, or heavy thick scars that have not matured either from the suture that was used for your eyelid tuck or blepharoplasty. I have seen a number of patients who have had "scar bumps" after a year and they have eventually settled down. You may want to check back with your surgeon to be sure.I hope that helps. Best regards..
