I just haven't been able to figure out if Thermage or Refirme actually are effective at skin tightening... I have heard sooo many different things, I just cannot rationalize doing it. Has anyone else out there had any good results, or comments?
have heard good things on refirme yet never tried it so that is just the scuttlebutt between friends. i had thermage eyes and so far it appears to have helped. not the same as a bleph job but definitely better then before thermage
I hear lots f bad thing about Thgermage. My gf had it on the face and result which looked like it was a mild swelling that helped her naso labial folds, just went away after 6months! Any thoughts?
I do not offer Thermage in my practice, so I can't comment on the effectiveness of that technology. I do, however, offer Refirme Skin Tightening, and can comment on its effectiveness on my patients.
Some practical details of Refirme:
Painless, (not topical or injected anesthesia needed)
Safe on all skin types, No down time. (You can go out to dinner that night!)
Takes about 45-60 minutes to do the entire face. (add 20 minutes for neck)
Results (subtle) can often be appreciated at that first visit (I do half the face and sit the patient up half way through their treatment so they can see the results occuring)
Improvement continues with new collagen formation over the 3 weeks after each treatment.
Optimal results between 3-5 treatments. (Depends on the initial amount of sagging you started with)
Cost for full face PER treatment will vary according to your geographic area (90210 anyone?) and will range around 700-1200$, and neck can be 300-800$.
My patients love it so far. Many have stopped after 2 treatments, having achieved enough improvement for their satisfaction. Others have wanted 3-5 treatments, and still others needed to add a deeper, more focused treatment (Matrix-IR) to their problem areas along with their Refirme treatments. Many patients fall asleep during the procedure (it also tickles some).
Always ask to see before and after pictures of patients actually treated by the doctor. Always look at the lighting of the pictures, as results can be misleading if the light direction on the patient is changed in the before and after pictures.

the most important thing is to really check out any doctor who treats you, and make sure they are honest offer realistic expectations from the technology.
I am confused about the difference between refirme and thermage. If there is a difference, which technology would be better for skin laxity (not puffiness) under the eyes? I have "crepey" looking wrinkles under my eyes from sun damage& decreased collagen. They are a collection of fine lines grouped together in a small area. I am thin, so I also have started to have a hollowing effect from the corner of my eye to the top of my cheek bone which is resulting in this saggy dry looking skin. I am only 35 and would like to find a technique that targets skin texture without being a radical procedure ( like a deep peel).
Thank you
I had 5 Refirme treatments at a cost of £1300.00 one month between each and was really looking forward to the result. Im 34 and showing the first signs of ageing. In all honesty I can not tell a difference and for me it was a complete waste of money.
I did the refirme 6 treatment plan on my abdomen, and sadly there was no difference. I was only expecting a slight difference anyways so my expectations were not that high, I just wanted some tightening across that area....nothing. Was so disappointed, and was out over 1500.00 dollars.
i've had thermage, and had no skin tightening. 1/3 of all patients, said my doctor after i paid and had the procedure, show no response.
my skin texture looked nicer, but the saggy parts were not affected.
i understand from a doctor who does both refirme and thermage that thermage has more effect, but is more expensive. refirme requires more treatments but doesn't require numbing the skin, so maybe it's a wash.
I do not use thermage but I use refirme for skin tightening on the face. It does not help sagging. I use it mainly for loose skin over the cheek bones. It requires multiple treatments. If you have sagging skin you really need to consider plastic surgery or CO2 laser treatments.
Refirme over the abdomen simply does not work.
Thermage has a mixed reputation because a machine is only as good as the person using it. In New York, we have a lot of happy patients who have had Thermage. We select patients properly, we educate them so they have realistic expectations, we use meticulous technique, and we use large treatment heads (more expensive) which deliver sufficient energy (900 pulses). Thermage is very safe, and there is no anesthesia, no scar, and no down time.

I opted for the package deal which included 6 treatments and I'm not at all pleased with results. I can't see any tightening at all. Very disappointed
