Breast Implants: Q&A

Why is There Such a Huge Price Difference for Breast Implants Between PS?

I have set up several consultations for the next couple weeks. The prices have been from $4500-$7000. All the PS are board certified so I don't understand the wide gap in the prices.

Pricing Differences Between Plastic Surgeons

Thank you for your question. Yes, there is a range in pricing and it depends on many factors. Factors such as the certification of the surgeon, the experience of the surgeon, if the surgery is performed in the office or in a hospital / outpatient surgery center, if performed under local anesthesia or general anesthesia and who is administering the anesthesia. Don’t choose your surgeon ONLY by price, make sure they can achieve your goals. Also, some offices give you... more

Why costs vary for breast augmentation

For the same reason that all athletes are not paid the same salary. Experience, expertise, location, overhead expenses, weather the surgery will be done in a certified center, hospital or a non certified office, use of a nurse vs anesthesiologist, length of surgery, and other factors are the main reasons for price variability.

Why is there a price difference between Breast Augmentation quotes?

Different surgeons provide different levels of service and expertise. There is always lots to consider, remember you are allowing an individual to place implants in your body that will be there for a very long time, something you will "wear" everyday. I would choose the surgeon you feel the most comfortable and comes recommended, not the best "deal". If it sounds to good to be true it usually is. Good luck!

Breast implant price variability

Breast implants, like other plastic surgeries, are priced based on many factors: surgeon experience, skill, time commitment, and attention to detail are some of them. Your price range is reasonable. Talk to each PS and see with whom you are most comfortable. Who did your fronds go to and were they happy? Who would your doctor recommend? Did the doctor really discuss the surgery with you, and tell the good the bad and the ugly? Most patients are really happy and do great,... more

Make sure

Make sure that you have the full price when you are compairing costs. There is the doctor fee, the cost of the implants, the OR fee and the anesthesiologist fee. Physicians are free to set their fees, and sometimes, unqualified doctors low ball their fees to get experience doing the procedure.

Breast augmentation pricing

Various factors can contribute to pricing in addition to a doctor's popularity, schedule and what he thinks the market will bear. Silicone implants are much more expensive than saline; implants from the reputable US manufacturers cost more than those purchased on the "gray market" which are not warranted. Does the doctor operate in his own surgical facility or use an ambulatory surgery center? Does he use a board certified anesthesiologist or a nurse anesthetist? Price and competence do... more

Varying Prices of Services

The costs of any service can vary greatly depending on where you go. For example, you could pay over 10x as much for a specialty salon to cut or color your hair verses SuperCuts. Plastic surgery is no different. You aren't buying implants in a box and walking out with them. You are paying for the expertise of the doctor performing your surgery. Experience, lower complication rates, better results, less chance of needing a revision, etc all cost... more

Price difference between breast augmentation surgeons

Just like in any other business price can vary significantly from surgeon to surgeon. Office expenses, cost of the implants(larger quantities purches of implants maybe purchased at a lower rate), amount of staff, etc. surgeons that maybe busy compared to less busy surgeons may charge more for spending more time with the patient to be able to give a more personal and attentive consultation as opposed to surgeons that do more volume and spend less time with the patients.
