Are There Any Alternative Treatments for Excess Stomach Skin?

I want to avoid getting a tummy tuck, after having four children. I am in good shape, but unfortunately I do have a bit of excess skin. Are there any skin tightening procedures that would help get rid of the excess skin?

Tummy Tuck Is Best Option For Excess Skin

Tummy tuck or abdominoplasty is certainly the best option for dealing with excess skin.  In addition, it offers the exposure to treat your stomach muscles which, after 4 pregnancies, almost certainlt could benefit.  Other less invasive procedures claim to adequately treat excess stomach skin, but you are not likely to be happy with their results.

Are There Any Alternative Treatments for Excess Stomach Skin?

Tummy tuck is the gold standard, and is reliable and predictable. Small to modest amounts of improvement can be achieved with laser liposuction or thermage, but the amount of excess skin must be quite modest to achieve a noticeable improvement.

Skin tightening of abdomen

Mini tuck or full abdominoplasty are the best way to reduce excess skin of the abdomen as well as tightening the muscles to flatten the abdomen. If you have minimal excess skin we have had good results with laser Titan treatments by Cutera lasers. Multiple treatments are requires. Also the new TruSculpt laser is showing good promise for minimal excess fat removal instead of liposuction.

Unfortunately there are no current nonsurgical techniques that will significantly improve excess skin of the abdomen.  Most patients do very well with a tummy tuck and in some cases simple skin excision along with lipo suction will give an adequate improvement.   Discuss your case with a board certified plastic surgeon.  Donald R. Alternative treatments for excess abdominal wall skin

Unfortunately if you have hanging and excess abdominal wall skin with or without stretch marks the only effective treatment is with a tummy tuck. Your abdominal wall muscles are tightened so the bulging is flattened and the excess skin and stretch marks are removed. All of the various lasers or heat and ultrasound directed non surgical treatments provide very modest improvement. If modest improvement meets your expectations then the non surgical treatment may be for you.

Treatments for Excess Abdominal Skin

Multiple pregnancies will certainly result in abdominal skin laxity. The question is where that excess skin is located.
Loose skin after pregnancy can be located above and below the belly button. If this fits your description, then a full tummy tuck is the only way to smooth out the excess. The incision for this surgery is relative long and runs from hip to hip and also goes around the belly button.
Sometimes, the skin laxity is located below the belly button. In this case a mini-tummy tuck is all that is required to smooth out the excess skin. The incision is usually just a bit longer than a standard c-section scar in the lower abdomen. There is no incision around the belly button with a mini-tummy tuck.
Thanks for your question. Hope this helps!

Removing stretch marks and loose abdominal skin in Los Angeles

many different treatments for removal of lower abdominal stretch marks and loose skin has been proposed including laser, creams, and ultrasound. Unfortunately, none of these methods have been scientifically proven to eliminate stretch marks and remove loose skin. therefore, after having had 4 pregnancies, your most definitive treatment option is a tummy tuck.

Few options are available

Hello,

Thank you for the question.  You cannot exercise skin and any skin laxity beyond mild often requires removal through surgery if tightening is desired.  There are a handful of treatments that are non invasive or minimally invasive such as Ulthera that can tighten the skin and soft tissue mildly but they are not a good use of funds for more laxity than mild.

All the best,

Alternative Treatments for Excess Stomach Skin?

+1

Thank you for the question.

The tummy tuck operation is the only reliable way to get rid of “excess skin” of the abdomen. Alternative treatments such as liposuction surgery or “noninvasive” technology will waste your time/resources.

Best wishes.

Excess Abdominal Skin

The only real way to eliminate excess skin of the abdominal area is with an abdominoplasty ( tummy tuck).  Consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) for an evaluation, and to discuss your expectations and concerns.
