Breast reconstruction pain management

There are many different forms of breast reconstruction and therefore different levels of pain for each. I am not very familiar with hilotherpay and would caution using it without significant scientific data supprting its use. the best thing for you to do is talk with your surgeon about his/her post-op pain regimen.

Recovery after breast reconstruction depends on procedure

Before doing anythiong like hilotherapy you need to make sure that it is OK with your plastic surgeon. There are 2 dramatically different ways to reconstruct breasts: flap procedures using your own tissues (these are operations such bas DIEP, TRAM, etc) and implants. If implants are used there may be tissue expanders placed. One thing the surgeon can do to lessen the discomfort from tissue expansion is to use an acellular matrix such as Alloderm to make an internal bra. That way... more
