From what I've read, the presence of a dorsal hump can be explained by simple Mendelian genetics. The gene for a straight nose is recessive and the gene for the Roman nose (which is often used synonymously with a nose with a dorsal hump) is dominant. But is it that black and white? How can you know for sure if a dorsal hump is caused by genetics and/or by nasal trauma?
