Hi, i'm 14 years old and i want a breast reduction. I have 38 DD breasts. I get bruises on my shoulders and my neck and back are constantly hurting whether im standing or sitting. I find it hard to excersize because my breasts feel like they are weighing me down. The pain is starting to come during school and i cant focus. I tried telling my mom about a breast reduction but she just keeps saying that i dont need it and i dont know how to talk to my dad about it. How can i change my moms mind? :(

How do I talk to my parents about breast reduction

Hi Kramisha, That's a tough issue to tackle online - how to talk to your parents. It sounds like you have very important physical concerns which affect your day to day life, which is important to address. I'm sure your parents care and may just be scared or worried about you - surgery is not something to take lightly. Maybe you can have a trusted relative or mentor at school (gym teacher? counselor?) help you communicate with your... more

Breast reduction in early teenagers

This is a tough one. When I did the traditional reduction with all of the extensive scars, I would not consider doing a 14-year-old. I now do the "Scarless" reduction which is liposuction only. This makes me much more comfortable considering someone of your age. I certainly will not operate on all 14-year-olds with your history. It require close corporation with the family. Maybe this option would be more acceptable for them to consider

This condition refers to breasts that are too large for the young lady's frame causing both physical and psychological distress. It sounds like you will be a good candidate for the breast reduction surgery in about 2 years (or longer). This intervening time will allow you to do your homework and... more

Breast reduction

Your symptoms may be completely related to the size of your breasts. You will probably be helped by enlisting the opinion of your pediatrician who should be familiar with the signs and symptoms of macromastia. Suggest having a conference with your pediatrician and your parents. Robin T.W. Yuan, M.D.

Talking to parents about breast reduction

Most parents are supportive, though are protective as well, and may have fears or concerns about surgery. Your best advocate is your primary care physician or pediatrician and you should tell him or her everything you have told us in your question. She can then broach the subject with your family if you are ready and help explain to them the challenges of a very full breast and impact on health and fitness. 18 is the 'better' age for reduction but perhaps your doctor can help open... more

How Can I Talk To My Parents About Needing A Breast Reduction Even Though I'm 14?

At 14 years old very hard to advise. I recommend discussing with your parents and your Peds doctor. Than see an Endocrine doc for evaluation before a PS.
