What Is The Normal Protocol For Tanning & Plastic Surgery?

I have read that people were told to stop tanning before their surgery. My Dr. didn't mention that to me. I haven't gone tanning in over a week but was planning on going today; now I'm worried that I shouldn't. What is the story on this. thanks.
