How Can I Get Rid of Mustache-like Hyperpigmentation After Tanning?

Last year, I noticed that after tanning, I started to develop a brown shadow, like a mustache and it got worse when the summer came. During the winter, it wasn’t as noticeable but now with the sun out more its becoming more noticeable again why is this?
How can I get rid of it? I’m 25 and I have a twin sister who ironically is having the same issue as I. Neither of us is on birth control. Please help. It’s affecting my life.
