Surgical Scar with Fraxel Re:store / Restore? How Does it Work?

Being that Fraxel restore is non-ablative, how does it improve surgical scars? I have a small surgical scar that I recently had treated w/Fraxel restore that hasn't been improved much. I do see a small change, but nothing big. In fairness it's only been 5 days, but I don't understand how the process works. The scar is slightly indented and atrophic and I see only a mild blending since the laser treatment. I've read that Fraxel restore works from the inside out? Is this true?
