Best OTC Surgical Scar Cream/gel From Tumor Removal From Brainstem

I had surgery in 2004 to remove a tumor on the brain stem and given a "scab-like" stitch which fell off naturally. It is vertical, thick, raised, and discolored. It is 5in long; 2in on my neck and 3in in the hair area. It has "tiny branching" which make it look "caterpillar-like." What OTC product will work best? Gel/creams preferred over sheets which fall off due to natural bending and cannot get to the hair area. What works best for this area, especially one that wont affect my hair?

Scars gels and creams don't work so well for old scars
You have a 6 year old scar, which appears wide with stitch marks as well. No scar cream, gel, or sheet will help at this point. You would need a surgical scar revision to narrow the scar. Those products may help in the healing phase afterward.
