I am 3 weeks post-op from an emergency exploratory laparotomy. I now have a vertical abdominal incision which has areas where the skin does not meet evenly. I can already tell the scar is going to look bad. How soon can a surgeon repair the look of an emergency surgical incision? Is there anything a plastic surgeon can do for me now or do I have to wait until the incision is fully healed?

Minor revision now

A minor revision could be done to bring skin edges togther is posible now. This is acheived by using fine sutures. Later after 6-12 months a formal revision could be done. Best of luck!
