Advice for Sunken Cheeks?

I am 20 years old and my BMI is 18. Do I have sunken cheeks? I am wondering what is causing my face to appear so sunken, and how I could get rid of it.

Correction of sunken cheeks

A wide variety of facial implants are currently available for the enhancement of the skeletal elements of facial aesthetics. The most commonly used facial implants are used to enhance the profile of the chin and the cheeks. Facial implants very widely not only in shape and style, but also in terms of the materials from which they are fabricated. My preference is to use structural fat grafting, as much as possible, to enhance facial features. In many cases, the need for a solid implant can... more

It may be due to fat loss. sculptra or Perlane would work. Perlane lasts about 9 months but gives an instant filling effect. Sculptra last 2 years but typically requires 3 treatments spaced about 6 weeks apart. Perlane is a filler while Sculptra contains crystals that stimulate your body to make collagen hence the delay in filling effects.

Correction of Sunken Cheeks

As we age and move from adolescents into adulthood we lose more "baby fat." Such as it is in your case. You are developing a more chiseled appearance. This usually goes in line with a more slender or athletic body physique. First I would recommend not doing anything at this time. Restoring facial fullness

Often athletic, slender patients will notice a thinning of the face which makes them look older or more severe than they desire. Restoring facial fullness can soften the appearance and look more youthful as well. A very good option for here in the Untied States or Europe is the filler, Sculptra. Sculptra can give a very natural result similar to a fat transfer to the face. Find a skilled, experienced physician near you as Sculptra requires a more advanced injection technique. Good luck! more

Sunken Cheeks in 20 year old

Looking at the photo, I do agree that your cheeks appear sunken in and improvement of this would enhance your appearance. Options are multifold and include cheek implants (i.e. submalar implants), facial fat grafting and injectable fillers. Examination and advice from a knowledgable surgeon who performs all of these procedures is a good start.

Consult your local plastic surgeon

You look great. If you want to change your cheeks see a local plastic surgeon whom can examine you. For some the addition of temporary fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane will add fullness. For others just gaining weight can help. Some doctors adn physcians like permanent implants and others like a combination of things. It is always best to have a thorough history taken prior to making any recommendations. There are many options for you! Best of luck.
