Treatment for Sun Damage Spots?

I am 25 years old, and about a year ago, I was badly sunburnt and it has left several sun damage spots on my chest and shoulders. I am wondering, at my age, will this be permanent and what I can do to reduce, if not eliminate, this problem? What are the best treatments for this? Thank you.
