Juvederm and Restylane

You should consult an experienced dermatologist or plastic surgeon to discuss which areas require more volume. The physician will then decide which filler to use depending on the areas being treated. Although Juvederm and Restylane are similar products, there are some differences that make one better suited for some areas than others. An experienced injector is aware of these differences. The cost is about the same for both.

Choose Injector not Filler

The choice that you should make is to ensure that you find an experienced and expert injector who understands that you want. The choice between Juvederm and Restylane is more based on an injector's preference. For a more cost effective treatment ask the injector about the loyalty program for patients in the case of Juvederm and the quanity injected program for restylane.

Juvederm and Radiesse are great for filling fine lines

I usually choose fillers based on the area to be treated and what the patient is trying to accomplish. The hyaluronic acid fillers, like Restylane and Juvederm are line fillers which work well in nasolabial folds, marrionett lines, lips and tear troughs. Juvederm lasts about a year and Restylane lasts about 6 months.

When to use what filler

What filler is used depends on a few things: physician preference, the area of face being filled, and how much volume loss there is. Generally, Restylane and Juvederm are very similar products are both are excellent choices for tear troughs, lips, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. Radiesse is a great filler for patients that need more volume. It works well in the mid face and marionette lines, but is not a good option for lips. Sculptra is very effective in... more

Different kinds of fillers

There are many kinds of fillers and many companies making very similar ones. For instance, Perlane (by Medicis) and Juvederm (by Allergan) are very similar. If anyone tells you to get one over the other, go to a different doctor. An ethical surgeon will explain all of the facts. The decision is only partially up to you. For instance, if you wanted Restylane for your nasolabial folds and absolutely would not do any other filler, I would tell you that I am not the right plastic surgeon for you... more

The best way to choose between Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse etc. is to see a specialist.

You should have a consultation with a respected doctor in your area who has extensive experience with all of the filler. He/She will be in the best position to guide you in your choice of fillers for the areas you want to enhance.

Start by selecting an experienced injector!

I agree with all the prior posts - Pick an expert injector to start -- Go to their website and look at their training - then go to the individual product websites and you will find that some of the companies will list "expert injectors" - for doctors who have injected many patients or who are "official trainers" for the company - Then at consultation show your doctor your areas of concern -- each filler has subtle differences and really can be considered... more

Choosing the appropriate filler

There are many different filler options in the U.S. and there are several more that will be coming in the next year or two. Some of the most popular and versatile fillers are made from the same ingredient, hyaluronic acid, such as Juvederm and Restylane to name a few. There are differences in these types of fillers that make certain ones more appropriate for injection in specific areas for the most natural look. If the wrong filler is chosen, the results can be a disaster... more

Choosing between Dermal Fillers

The best way to choose between the different available dermal fillers is to consult with a experienced facial cosmetic or reconstrucitve surgeon to discuss your options based on the areas of volume loss you are looking to correct. Factors that influence filler choice include area(s) to be corrected, additional procedures to be performed in affected area, period of time correction desired, patient's previous history with filler.

Choose a trained professional to help you choose

The most important part of the process of choosing between the different injectable products on the market is choosing a trained professional who can explain to you the differences and benefits to all the products. I like to educate all of my patients and explain to them why we have chosen that particular filler or treatment and not the others for them in that particular location.

Which filler to use??

When thinking about what filler to use, the most important decision is WHO will inject it. I would choose a dermatologist or plastic surgeon that has a lot of experience with fillers. Explain what you want to change and what you can afford. Both of you should decide upon a treatment plan together. Experienced injectors will have a very good idea of what they think would do the best job and I would leave that up to them. The last thing that you want to do is demand a product that your doctor... more

Choosing between various fillers...

First and foremost you want to make sure you choose a qualified practitioner to do the injecting. During the consultation, discuss the different areas you are looking to improve. Then the injector can discuss different options. Juvederm and Restylane are essentially the same, but I feel Juvederm lasts a little longer. Radiesse, Sculptra, or fat injection can be used for deeper hollows, can last longer, and are little more expensive. Just make sure you... more

How Do I Successfully Choose Between Various Injectable Dermal Fillers Such As Juvederm or Restylane?

Honestly, IMHO you don't. Choose an MD that understands and folows the proper aesthetics of facial beauty to shape and contour your face using the appropriate filler (Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane, Radiesse or Sculptra) to give you a naturally more attractive face. The right filler in the wrong place will not make you more attractive....beauty comes from understanding the aesthetics of facial beauty, not in any one filler.

How to choose facial fillers

When comparing different fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm, it is important to understand the difference between "stimulatory" fillers and "wrinkle" fillers”. When treating problems due to volume loss such as cheek hollows and sagging skin, I will almost always use stimulatory fillers such as Radiesse or Sculptra. They are injected deeper, beneath the skin, and will generate more volume to create a much better lifting effect for sagging skin. They work by... more

Choosing between Dermal Fillers

There are many types of filler on the market such as Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, Sculptra and many more. Each filler has unique properties and the filler chosen should be that which is most appropriate for your issue and your anatomy. I tend to like Juvederm Ultra XC for lips and NLC, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC for cheeks and eyebrows. Juvderm Ultra or Restylane for under eyes and Sculptra for temporal area and total face injections. Radiesse is also great for cheeks... more

I agree that the doctor is more important than the particular filler.

Generally I prefer Restylane and Perlane. I also thing that the Juvederm Ultraplus is a good product. I am not so excellent about the low G prime fillers like Juvederm. Inexperienced injector benefit from products that flatten out like Juvederm. However, for more advanced treatment areas like the lip edge and the under eye circle it is much better to have a product that effectively holds in the tissue even though these products must be sculpted in place... more

Choosing Between Various Injectable Dermal Fillers Such As Juvederm or Restylane?

There are few applications where one filler is better than the other (Restylane in the lower lid cheek junction). But for the most part Restylane and Juvederm are VERY similar and the distinction is drawn mostly by the companies trying to get brand loyalty. I would not focus too much on this and you would do much better to find a great Plastic surgeon to advise you on the best filler for each area of your face. You will be much better off this way.
