I had smartlipo this morning on my submental and upper arms. Came home and took a nap with my head elevated. After I woke up I have been having trouble with swallowing. And my voice is much lower. I am worried.
Answer: One disadvantage of general anesthesia for liposuction is irritation of the oropharynx.
You did not state the type of anesthesia you received for the liposuction. If it was a general anesthetic the hoarseness might be the result of irritation from the endotracheal tube.

Answer: Submental Liposuction and Sore Throat
If you were intubated during the procedure, this may be the result of the tube irritiation. If you were not intubated, this is unusual. Either way a call to your doctor's office is in order. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA

Answer: Were you intubated for your surgery?
This warrants an immediate call to your surgeon and if you can reach them, call your personal physician. If you had general anesthesia, the voice may be irritated by the intubation and this generally passes. This could also bear on your ease of swallowing. However, if you have a sense of panic, then immediate medical care is warranted. This could simply be reassurance by your surgeon or assessment at an emergency room if you feel this is warranted. Reach your surgeon and decide your course of action.

Answer: Voice and swallowing problems after smart lipo to neck and arms.
What type of anesthesia did you have for your procedure? Where you completely put out or were you just sedated but awake? If you did have a general anesthesia for some reason, then it is possible that your issues are related to that, but they should be fairly temporary. If you haven't already, I would contact your surgeon to let them know of your problems.

Answer: Throat Soreness After Smartlipo
This sounds like typical throat soreness from the anesthesia used for your surgery, either an endotracheal tube or a laryngeal mask. This has nothing to do with with the liposuction which was performed in front of the voicebox area.
