Is Strattice/Alloderm for CC and Palpability a Same Day Surgery or 2 Different Days?

I've had CapsCont 2x and I counsulted with 7 guys in NY/NJ area to consider a 3rd surgery. The majority say I should either live with rock hard breasts or excise implant. Only 2 bothered to recommend Strattice. I'm wondering if other 5 don't mention it because of downsides (I make it clear that $ is no object), or if it simply requires skill that they lack. One said it was pointless because it's inserted AFTER surgery to improve palpability. Huh? Does this mean Strattice is a 2 day surgery?

Is Strattice/Alloderm for CC and Palpability a Same Day Surgery or 2 Different Days?

Yes. I do all of mine in the outpatient setting in one day. For all of us who do breast surgery be that reconstructive or cosmetic capsular contracture is a very difficult problem. If you have had multiple attempts at capsulectomy, new implants, and even switching the breast pockets and failed then acellular dermal matrix placement such as Strattice or Alloderm can be a huge help. I perform many of these exact procedures every year. I use these products in almost all of my breast cancer... more

Alloderm is a good option for capsular contracture after breat augmentation.

Hi. 1) Capsulectomies, inserting Alloderm sheet (I prefer Alloderm because it is human tissue), and replacing breast implants is a single two hour out-patient procedure. 2) This use of Alloderm is relatively new, and perhaps some plastic surgeons have not tried it. 3) We have had good luck with preventing capsular contracture using Alloderm, but of course it COULD come back. In any case, it sounds like it is you best chance. Other things to look at are... more

Strattice for recurrent capsular contracture

Current thinking is that Strattice combined with capsulectomy is a very effective treatment for capsular contracture. Current series show a very low recurrence rate with this combined one stage approach. I believe that many of the surgeons you have seen either don't know about this newer treatment method of have limited experience with it. In your case I would absolutely seek out a plastic surgeon experienced in breast revisionary surgery.

Capsular contracture and strattice/alloderm

If you have had recurrent capsules, removing as much of the capsule as possible, changing the implants, and placing strattice may help with recurrent capsules and rippling. Good luck.

Strattice/Alloderm for Capsular contracture - does it work?

In my experience of about 25 to 30 cases I have had good success with alloderm in assisting in treating capsular contracture. I would only do this in conjunction with new implants and as much of a capsulectomy as possible. I always use drains and start pocket expansion exercises with a day or two of surgery. Of course each case is different and the alloderm or stattice is expensive at over 3000.00 for the product for both sides. I must say I have never done this as a... more

Treating capsular contracture

It is always difficult to answer questions posted on a RealSelf without having completed a history and physical examination. That said, the concept is that capsular contracture is likely caused by a low-grade, subclinical infection on the surface of your implant that we call biofilm. Over time that biofilm and the bodies reaction to it causes tightening that you feel as capsular contracture. When a portion of the capsule is replaced by an acellular dermal matrix of... more
