I have quite a bad overjet, with my lower jaw too far back as well as crooked teeth due to crowding. In cases like this, is it ever possible to straighten the teeth without changing the size of the overjet at all. Unfortunately, I don't think that I'll ever be able to afford (or be willing to spend so much money on) orthognathic surgery but would like straighter teeth without affecting my overjet.

No it would not do anything to your nose,size,because the palatal suture,now its strong and closed,and also depends on the shape and design of the expander,it can only change the angle of the teeth, to change that crossbite.
There appears to be enough room for an implant in the space, by far the preferable solution for your case. Esthetically, the small teeth mean that the best cosmetic choice is likely a single implant and two or twin crowns.
