What if I Am Still Scarred After Eyelid Surgery After a Year?

I am african american/hispanic tan complexion. I had my eyelid surgery in May 2010 to remove excess skin. When I close my eye the scars are very apparent so I was given a fade cream but it was only a temporary fix, what do I do?

Correction of upper eyelid scarring

While generally the upper eyelid scars are imperceptible, they can on occasion be visible. Options for correction include a surgical scar revision and perhaps laser resurfacing. I would discuss this with your surgeon and follow their suggestions.

The incision(s) from the upper eyelid surgery are fully healed after more than 1 year. You may want to consult with experienced eyelid surgeons regarding scar revision. Just be sure that they understand and follow the proper aesthetics of facial beauty.

If done properly, the incisions from upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty, or lift, generally heal very well. There may be a period of softening after the surgery which usually is completed by three to six months after surgery.
