I had a full facelift and my neck liposuctioned. I now have staph(gram neg) Took 2 zpacks and now on a sulfer antibiotic. It started to help but not anymore. What do I do.My doctor just can not understand how this happened. What do I do and can it be contagious?

Chin Liposuction
If it is not getting better, then it is likely contagious (provided it is draining). You may need a second antibiotic if the two now are not successful. I suggest you see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and or an internal medicine physician who works with many skin infections; develop a plan, and move forward.

Bacterial Culture is very important if Staph infection occurs after Neck Liposuction and Facelift
Infection is a very rare occurrence after Facelift and Liposuction of the neck.
Since you are not responding to the antibiotics that you have been treated with it is important that a culture be taken to diagnose the responsible bacteria.
Methcillin Resistant Staphylococcal Aureus Infection is dangerous, needs accurate diagnosis and appropriate antibiotic and other therapy.
Ask your doctor to take another culture and ask if he/she feels a consult with an Infectious Disease...

Staph Infection after Liposuction
Hi,
You should have a consult with a Infectious disease specialist and make sure a culture is taken of the infected site. Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus Aureas can be a real problem.
